How to Suppress My Airsoft Gun?

Updated: Mar 10, 2023

In this article, we will look at the options for suppressing your airsoft gun. You won't find many functional suppressors on the market, they are mostly just a purely visual addition to the weapon, so we have no choice but to do our own thing. Below you will find ideas and options on how to achieve sound attenuation by modifying your airsoft gun.

Insert a Wrapped Coil Into an Empty Suppressor

There are many tutorials online on how to modify an existing suppressor to silence an airsoft gun. Wrapping a coil is the best way to quiet an airsoft gun.

What will you need? Actually just 3 things:

- Foam strip

- Coil spring

- Mock suppressor

Take the coil spring and wrap it in a foam strip. Airsoft suppressors tend to be hollow, so just open it up and place the wrapped coil spring inside. And it is done!

If you have an extended barrel for a suppressor, simply just place the coil spring directly around it.

Note that the foam strip should always fill the suppressor up to the edges to achieve the best possible result and make your airsoft gun as quiet as possible!

Make Sure That the Airsoft Gun Is Sealed Well

Most of the airsoft guns on the market are cheaply made and will leak air at least a little bit. So the air that leaks during the shot creates additional noise. So how do we get rid of this problem?

You do this by filling all the gaps inside the gun with some sealing material, but be careful, we dont want to seal the moving and important parts of the airsoft gun. When you have sealed all the gaps, your gun should be airtight. You also want to make sure that the seal between the silencer and the barrel is good. And thats it!

Lubricate Insides of Gearbox With Thick Gear Lubricant

Another of the metallic sounds that your airsoft gun is making is caused by the gears in the gearbox. Regular lubrication of the gears should be part of your regular maintenance, so this poroblem should not bother you, but we mention it just to be sure.

You only need to disassemble your airsoft gun, take out the gearbox and sufficiently lubricate the moving part including the gears with thick gear lubricant. Use a reasonable amount of lubricant, nothing should be overdone. And thats it!

Use a Sorbo Pad in Your Airsoft Gun

Another way to silence your airsoft gun is to use the so-called Sorbo Pad. Sorbo Pad is a special material for absorbing shocks and vibrations. It is excellent for use as a piston stop in AEGs and manual rifles. So not only will you silence your airsoft gun, but at the same time you will extend its life and prevent various mechanical problems.

Installation os completely simple. Disassemble your airsoft gun and carefully remove the piston head. Use enough glue and stick the Sorbo Pad to it. Put everything back together and you are done. More in the video below.

And that is all! In many manuals you can find other procedures, such as airsoft spring compression, etc. However, we have not published them here, because these procedures reduce the life and performance of airsoft guns. So with gusto, let the enemies not hear where the shot actually came from.
