Why is My Airsoft Gun Not Feeding?

Updated: Feb 7, 2023

We all know that unpleasant feeling when we arrive at an airsoft event and after the first few shots, problems arise with the gun. The most common, but also the easiest problem to solve, is no feeding. Therefore, in this article, we have prepared for you the most common causes of not feeding, so that you can prevent them or solve them directly at the event. Lets have a look.

The most common causes of not feeding: Magazines: The first and most common cause of feeding problem is magazines. On the other hand, this is the best option for you because the solution to this problem is simple and cheap. Poor quality magazine: Cheap and low-quality magazine processing is very often the cause of not feeding. Cheap magazines do not fit well in the chambers, they tend to fall out and therefore do not feed the ammunition as they should. Finding out if this is your problem is simple. Try borrowing a different magazine from a friend or teammate and shoot a few times. If everything goes as it should with another magazine, then just buy better magazines and hurray for action Bad magazine spring: Over time, with each magazine, the spring fatigues and loses the thrust it uses to push the ammunition into the gun. Testing whether this is your problem is again simple. As with the first point, try a different magazine, if it works, the fault is in a non-working magazine. Magazine chamber: A worse and more expensive problem to fix is a bad magazine chamber. If any magazine falls out of your weapon on its own, or you feel a lot of looseness in it, then it may be a bad magazine chamber. As a short-term solution, you can stick velcro tape inside the chamber to limit the clearance, but even then you will have to visit the service after a while. HOP UP: We probably all know what a hop up is and how it works, but if not, we are preparing an article dedicated to it. A hop up chamber can be another cause of dry firing of your gun, namely the rubber band that creates a backward rotation of the bullet for a longer range firing. If your gun suffers from dry firing, then it is possible that the hop up rubber in the chamber is damaged and instead of a small contact, it protrudes more into the barrel and thus jams the ammunition inside the gun. To check, disassemble the weapon, pull the barrel out of the hop up chamber and check the condition of the rubber band, if it appears damaged in any way, replace it. Hop up rubber bands are not expensive, so solving this problem will certainly not break the bank. BBs: One of the sources of the dry firing problem can be the bbs themselves. Low-quality and cheap ammunition can have an irregular shape, or manufacturing defects that cause jamming in the magazine or directly in the weapon itself. Checking if this is your problem is again simple. Just try shooting with other ammunition, if everything goes as it should then the fault is precisely in the bbs. Barell: The last and least common cause of airsoft gun dry firing is the barrel. Over time, every barrel becomes clogged with dirt and dust, so the barrel needs to be cleaned. For most weapons, the manufacturer supplies a thin rod for just this purpose. Clean the barrel thoroughly and test fire. If after cleaning everything works as it should, then the problem was precisely in it. In this article, we explained what dry firing is and its causes. We believe that we have helped you sufficiently to solve your problem and we will look forward to the next article on our airsoft magazine. Thank you.
